There was a time, in the not so distant past, when SUVs were all the rage. Dominating the road, off roading and all terracing were what everyone was looking for. The problem? Not many car drivers were actually ever going off road.
When gas prices began to rise, and people began becoming shamed for their gas guzzling habits, reason took over, and the SUV experienced a lull in the market. Over the past several years we have seen a return to gas prices that are no longer the number one car buying decision maker.
What has been done to our psyche, however, is seemingly forever. Those who were just a short decade ago looking for monster trucks are now looking for cars that run more efficiently, take up less space in their garage, and have a lower carbon footprint. In replace of the off road roadster is the luxury and crossover vehicle.
It isn’t just gas mileage and carbon emissions that has everyone abuzz. The car industry is producing Langley cars for sale that are more intuitive and integrative. Our society has become more communicative and apparently car buyers want their cars to follow suit. Looking for more entertainment, more compatibility, and more safety features that allow us to sit back and enjoy the ride, the 2016 rollouts are all about the combination of comfort and smartness.
The SUV may not be the car leader anymore, but that doesn’t mean that everyone can reasonably fit everything in a sedan. That is what makes the allure of a crossover so amazing.
Moms who aren’t ready to settle for the minivan, to salespeople who can’t squeeze everything into a four-door car, are finding that a crossover has everything they need, while still fitting into a parking garage. The best part? A crossover isn’t another monthly gas bill that you have to account for in an already overstretched budget.
Anticipated to take over the Motown car show are the rollouts of new, luxury crossovers that have the technology that was only a glimmer in a car designer’s eye just one short decade ago. The type of luxury that used to come with a chauffeured ride, the new cars for 2016 are enticing our senses and getting us there in comfort and style. Luxury carmakers such as Infiniti, Porsche, Volvo, Lincoln and Lexus are forecasted to set the stage for some really amazing things.
The crossover is going to be redesigned and completely revamped. Once used by manufacturers to capture the market in between the sedan, the truck and the SUV, the crossover is now capturing the sensibilities of twenty-somethings to eighty-somethings alike.
Cornering the road, more than half of the cars sold are now a version of these amazing crossovers. Having a single line, Volvo, Infiniti, Mercedes and Chrysler are no longer the only ones manufacturing their own version. Just about every carmaker has seen the potential for increased sales and have answered the call.
What will make the difference in car buying decision will most likely no longer be about the type of car style. The crossover seems to be the car of choice. What will help with the decision process will be things like entertainment systems, intuitive driving, car to car communication, car to infrastructure communication and plain simple luxury features. Going from averaged priced to out of this world expensive, everyone is getting in on the crossover craze.
It is likely that the minivan will not come back to regain its place, nor will the SUV take back its prominence. The crossover is here to stay. What is on the horizon is not new design as much as cars that drive themselves or make decisions to take away things like traffic and human error.
So what are car buyer excited about at this year’s car show? They can’t wait to see what new gadgets and time-saving devices will come with the crossovers they love. It is hard to imagine a time before the crossover was on the road, but it wasn’t that long ago. The future of car making is going to be focused on addressing the autopilot nature of our lives, the distraction that causes accidents, and getting us there without hassle, on-time, and safer than we have ever been delivered before.s
